about
For our 19th Album [and thus our 27th CD Disc], we try something a bit different, not that we don't always strive to do this compositionally, and not that we haven't produced live albums before. But, they are, almost live, insofar as we have never lost the studio umbilical cord. Like many if not most, so called 'live' albums, ours are not truly live, in that post production has added to, and perfected, to a little more than a real performance. Even with an element of Theatricality of location - we are afterall, unashamedly, an Electronic production Duo. Most of our music would be impossible to play live. For this one however, the tape is running, we are on a stage in otherwise complete silence, our equipment is set up and soundchecked - David signals to go. We understand our intention in outline, and for 20 something minutes we are in total musical union - listening intently to each other. I give space and support and lead as and when, he sings and soars. We repeat this twice more with only minutes between takes. These three live pieces are then - just and exactly - our live performances - this is a Plateau in our Work together. We understand one another now, really that well.
